I wanted to blog about my preparation for an upcoming century ride I have coming up in June. But first, I wanted to tell you all about my journey through the sport of cycling.
I started riding about 6 years ago because I wanted a fitness routine I could actually stick to. I bought myself an entry level alloy road bike and off I went. But then, I lost interest, life got in the way, and sure enough cycling was a distant memory…until about a year and a half ago. Last summer I decided to upgrade my bike to a Dolce Specialized and we have a love/hate. I have my eyes on something carbon but…I am not worthy…yet.
Anyway, I have fallen in love with the sport yet again, and now I have set a goal to keep me in the saddle. In June, I will be competing in a century ride on Long Island….at least that it what I am telling myself. The reason I am doing this is beyond cycling. I want to commit to a healthy lifestyle for once.
I have a very hectic (and amazing) job, and sometimes I either don’t eat at all, or I come home and overeat all the wrong things. Appearances aside, I was losing weight, but I did not feel better. My energy is so low, guys. I feel exhausted no matter how many hours I sleep. I want to change all of this, and I am positive these problems are related to my current diet of Skittles and french fries.
So this very day I decided to do a killer leg workout and eat green things. And I hope hope hope I continue to eat green things until June and maybe beyond. I am rewarding myself with a carbon bike in the near future. Nothing wrong with …incentives…
Follow me on my journey to the century ride! And share in the joy for this amazing sport! I want to hear from you. What motivates your healthy lifestyle?
